This kit in general works great right out the box with virtually most OS including 64 bit with little or no re-mapping or software tweeking necessary but very versatile if needed!Gives you the "D.J.hands on" feel(beats the pc mouse like a cat!)while mixing music and/or videos.Beginners and pros, both will apreciate the programmable obtions of the well designed and intuitive buttons and faders accessable via software included. Can use it as a stand-alone, all-in-one kit with laptop or as part of a more complex set-up. Just a little back-set for scratch DJ`s on behalve of latency on jog wheels and fader, but thats also "tweekable".All-in-all,its a great addition to any set-up!
Great controller. Great effects. Only one problem - the volume. Volume knobs are too sensitive and the volume changes by itself, you have to keep an eye on that and make sure the song you're mixing in is on the same level. Other than that it is a great console, if only the volume on the virtual dj was consistent with the controller.
If you are serious about your mixes, this is an excellent product. An all in one solution to digital DJing. This and a laptop and you are ready to go! I use Traktor instead of the supplied "light" program that is included.I am a professional DJ that has had my company MILES SOUND MUSIC PRODUCTIONS for over 20 years and I am one of the top DJs in Hollywood. I use this on all my TV Show warm-up, corporate and club gigs and it works flawlessly. I liked it so much that my other DJs are using it as well.
simply amazing this controller does it all and its under 350 bucks I was choosing between this one and the vestak the one with the serato itch but found out that the itch does not do video at all or karaoke I'm a mobile DJ. so this stuff matters to me and I'm sure if your in the clubs it will matter as well since everybody is doing music videos now a days so here is an inexpensive tool that anybody could use without spending thousands of dollars just to play videos on the clubs or on the road like me . the only issue that I have with it is that the software that came with it sucks a.... so if you havent already then i suggest upgrading to the pro version thats when you would be able to use all the features like timecoded cds or vynl or karaoke and the layouts are much better and you could always upgrade your software at their website and it has not frozzen up on me not even once since I had it . and i use it almost everyday for about 5 hours a day but then again i have 4 gigs of ram . but this software is the way to go if you still mixing with cds then you should def.. consider getting this tool . made my life alot easier and mixing became like a whole new world were you could actually see whats going on in the song . and for those serato users theres even a skin that looks like serato so you could mix with the exact same wave forms the only difference is that you could also do video on the hercules rmx without buying anything else so thats a big plus . and you got to ask yourself this question do you really want to carry all that equipment around to all your partys ? were in hercules rmx thats all you need and a laptop. and your set to go play anyware . of course having a back up system is always a good thing dont get me wrong but this controller is awesome and im never going back to mixing with regular cds again thanks hercules for making such a wonderfull tool .
I'm a mobile DJ and have purchased other Hurcules products in the past. This item is great, first of all it's very easy to use and the software that comes with it is okay. I have a Mac and was already running Virtual DJ pro, so as soon as I installed the software I was all set!! Only problem I've faced is the sound card options. I hooked it up to my mixer and it took me a while to get the right settings. Other than that it's been great.
Look and feel is good too. Very professional finish. I just wish they could have added more buttons with lights for places that are not well lit. As far as the jog wheel being sensative, you can adjust how sensative the scratch effect is or turn it off.
The Hercules RMX is the best all around. EASY to use, and the price is perfect... SO ALL YOU DJ's thats still using CD mixer, step ur game up.
I must say this is the best controller I have used for under $350.00, and I have purchased a few!!! I upgraded to Vdj Pro software, which really set it off. I mixed music, karaoke and videos with this piece. played several gigs up to 6 hours without any problems. Note: platter does not hold when your hand is placed on it and scratch will take some adjusting. If you are a beginner in the digital dj world..yes this piece I highly recommend. Good Job Hercules!!!
This is very easy to use. I knew what I was doing with it after the first day.
My Station had a 10 Hour mix going on for the New Year, and was the oppertunity for the 'Real DJ's' around the country to show out. What we ended up getting was alot of sloppy mixing from these 'professional' guys, and I don't know is sloppy pitch, scratching what real dj's do?? Well me and my RMX killed them with moderenage mixing. It's 2009 and it's time to step your game up!!!
First of all, DJ'ing isn't just about using vinyl or cd's or mp3's it about selecting the right tracks to rock the crowd. I find this product to be very versatile and easy to use. I certainly recommend this product
The best thing about the RMX is that its both mac and PC compatible. Since i have a mac, it's difficult to find a software based Mixer, that is not that expensive and good. One of that bad things about the RMX is the Software. It comes with Virtual DJ 5 version, which has limited functions such as no timecoded vinyl, and you'll have o upgrade it to virtual DJ pro (and it's not worth it in my opinion) to get more effects and timecode, but the software it pretty good overall.
I like it, its bigger than MKII,the loop and the flange are very easy to use, I miss the sound effects, and the playlist, but it works perfect even if you have Windows Vista which is a little bit heaver software u can mix without any ploblems. To those DJ's who said Turntables are for real DJs, I have to say...Wake up !!! this is 2008 almost 2009. Technology is here, digital music is the future.
Jog wheel is still too sensative. The main volume fader in between the 2 channel fader should be in another location. I like the fact that the pitch is now a slide fader (just like a turntable) instead of the knob and maybe should have been closer to the jog wheel. Overall I like the effect with video as well as MP3's, it even had an effect to turn your regular MP3 for use for kareoke. Yes, I found out about the extra [$] for the full software and it [*] but we can't alway have everything.
The metal case is nice and i think that if i go at a club it would make me look more professional. The bad thing about it is that it comes with a cheap software. The m2k software was way better and on the rmx they want you to buy the virtual dj pro for an extra [$] if you had already purchase the rmx and [$] if you didnt.[...]If you got the money to buy the pro, it's a nice investment. I think that virtual pro is just a scam to pay extra.
The only thing I don't like about this product, and it isn't about the Hercules DJ Console RMX itself, is the Virtual DJ LE (Limited Edition) software it comes bundled with. The software is great, it just isn't the full version of the application, and that blows...
This is a review of the product. This isn't a personal opinion about whether or not real dj's use turntables.
This product completely meets all of my dj'ing needs.
It's great!
Like I said REAL DJ'S USE TURNTABLES!!! STOP BEING LAZY!!!
The Hercules DJ Console RMX is a very useful midi controller if are used to dj software, like virtua dj, the only thing i don't like is the Hi knob not making a difference, also the scratch function is very sensitive
I traded the MK2 in, and got the RMX. It is pretty easy to use and the software is o.k. It is limited on the use of the software. You don't have all of the effects like the MK2 but overall it beats its original, MK2. All the improvements were for the better, the jogwheels are awesome, the scratching is definetly cleaner. Like the other comment it is missing the 1/8" plug which was a minus but if you are looking to mixing your mp3's easier this is the affortable way to go.
The product does not include what the MKII had (software wise), you have to spend the extra $149 to have access to all the additional feature including video. It does not bring the 1/8 output that the orgininal had. Other than that, the product works and the video and effects are a plus.
