Dedicated software for optimum digital DJing control The Hercules DJ Console Rmx comes with VirtualDJ 5 DJC Edition, the reference in the DJing world for PC, now also available for Mac. VirtualDJ 5 DJC Edition instantly connects to the console. The software includes features and settings specific to the Hercules DJ Console Rmx, and combines the power of the VirtualDJ mixing engine with the ergonomics of the Hercules DJ Console Rmx. The Hercules DJ Console Rmx is a MIDI controller and therefore compatible with other MIDI-controlled software applications. Features: Cutting-edge DJ controller with built-in audio for live and studio use Audio built for DJing - Mic input for talk-over, Headphone output, 2 stereo outputs (4 x ¼" jack mono out (+4dBu) for pro gear, 4 RCA mono out (-10dBv) for standard gear), 2 stereo inputs (Plug & mix external sources with MP3s) Metal casing - Aluminum plate on top, Metal sheet on bottom Comfortable controls - 35x25cm / 13.8"x10.7", Comfortable mixing, Space for your fingers 2 Jog Wheels Emulate vinyl turntables so that turning the jog wheel moves the cursor backward or forward within music tracks to select the cue point where playback will start for the audience. Add effects to music playback such as instant speed up, instant slow down, and scratching. Settings - Adjustable resistance: makes the jog wheels more or less resistant, according to the DJ’s preference, Adjustable accuracy: mix with jog wheels set at their default accuracy, or divide it by 2 or 4. Use with: Scratch On/Off button: changes the jog wheels’ function, Fine tuning: slow down or speed up playback, like when a DJ gives a record a push, Scratching: makes a scratch sound, like when a DJ puts his hand on a record during playback (stopping the record’s rotation) and moves it backward and forward. 6 Faders (Sliders) DJ Console Rmx plays 1 stereo music track per deck (2 stereo music tracks simultaneously). The cross fader moves between the left and right decks, allowing the DJ to adjust the mix between the 2 tracks. Setting the cross fader completely to the right means that the mix (the music the audience hears) comes 100% from the right deck: the audience doesn’t hear the music played on the left deck. Setting the cross fader in the center means that the music comes 50% from the left deck and 50% from the right, and so on. Adjustable cross fader curve: the DJ Console Rmx control panel menu lets the DJ set the cross fader curve. Linear curve: when the cross fader is set at 25% away from its left end, the mix is 75% of the music played on the left deck and 25% of the music played on the right deck. Bell curve: when the cross fader is set at 25% away from its left end, the mix is 60% of the music played on the left deck and 40% of the music played on the right deck. Short curve: when the cross fader is set at 25% away from its left end, the mix is 50% of the music played on the left deck and 50% of the music played on the right deck. The cross fader curve used depends on the DJ’s style of mixing (linear or bell curves are good for smooth Change the pitch = change the playback speed of a track, increasing or reducing its BPM (Beats Per Minute) rate, in order to make dancing easy by

The best thing about the RMX is that its both mac and PC compatible. Since i have a mac, it's difficult to find a software based Mixer, that is not that expensive and good. One of that bad things about the RMX is the Software. It comes with Virtual DJ 5 version, which has limited functions such as no timecoded vinyl, and you'll have o upgrade it to virtual DJ pro (and it's not worth it in my opinion) to get more effects and timecode, but the software it pretty good overall.

I like it, its bigger than MKII,the loop and the flange are very easy to use, I miss the sound effects, and the playlist, but it works perfect even if you have Windows Vista which is a little bit heaver software u can mix without any ploblems. To those DJ's who said Turntables are for real DJs, I have to say...Wake up !!! this is 2008 almost 2009. Technology is here, digital music is the future.

Still worth getting

Jog wheel is still too sensative. The main volume fader in between the 2 channel fader should be in another location. I like the fact that the pitch is now a slide fader (just like a turntable) instead of the knob and maybe should have been closer to the jog wheel. Overall I like the effect with video as well as MP3's, it even had an effect to turn your regular MP3 for use for kareoke. Yes, I found out about the extra [$] for the full software and it [*] but we can't alway have everything.

The metal case is nice and i think that if i go at a club it would make me look more professional. The bad thing about it is that it comes with a cheap software. The m2k software was way better and on the rmx they want you to buy the virtual dj pro for an extra [$] if you had already purchase the rmx and [$] if you didnt.[...]If you got the money to buy the pro, it's a nice investment. I think that virtual pro is just a scam to pay extra.

The only thing I don't like about this product, and it isn't about the Hercules DJ Console RMX itself, is the Virtual DJ LE (Limited Edition) software it comes bundled with. The software is great, it just isn't the full version of the application, and that blows...

I traded the MK2 in, and got the RMX. It is pretty easy to use and the software is o.k. It is limited on the use of the software. You don't have all of the effects like the MK2 but overall it beats its original, MK2. All the improvements were for the better, the jogwheels are awesome, the scratching is definetly cleaner. Like the other comment it is missing the 1/8" plug which was a minus but if you are looking to mixing your mp3's easier this is the affortable way to go.

Good products but does not include
By Rudy from Brooklyn, New York on 5/12/2008
Pros:
Clear Sound, Easy To Use, Powerful, Professional Functions
Cons:
Limited Functions
Describe Yourself:
Experienced
Bottom Line:
Yes, I would recommend this to a friend

The product does not include what the MKII had (software wise), you have to spend the extra $149 to have access to all the additional feature including video. It does not bring the 1/8 output that the orgininal had. Other than that, the product works and the video and effects are a plus.
